Diversity and Equality Training of Trainers in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE)

This innovative and exciting course is the only one of its kind in the Republic of Ireland. It offers trainers a unique opportunity to enhance their skills and develop a new area of expertise. Trainers  learn and develop the skills required to deliver a locally devised FETAC module, deliver workshops and ongoing support to practitioners as relevant or required. Trainers are also equipped to:

  • Define different approaches to diversity education, terminology,  anti-racism and anti-discrimination concepts;
  • Explain the Anti-bias goals and how they can be applied in ECCE work with both children and adults;
  • Explain how our attitudes influence the way we work as professionals with young children with particular reference to equality and diversity issues;
  • Explain how legislation affects groups in Irish society in both positive and negative ways;
  • Access books and materials for use with children;
  • Demonstrate ways to respond to incidents involving bias with both adults and children;
  • Links to Síolta, The National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education, the Diversity and Equality guidelines for childcare providers (OMC, 2006) and the Early Learning Framework (NCCA)
  • Outline and explain areas to be considered when developing equality and diversity policy and an implementation plan for the service.

Pavee Point has a long experience in developing and delivering Equality & Diversity in ECCE and other sectors.

A group of qualified trainers are located in the following counties;

Cavan, Clare, Cork, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Kilkenny, Limerick, Mayo and Waterford.
