Traveller Focus Week 2009
Traveller Pride
Traveller Pride
The March will start at the Garden of Remembrance, Parnell Street at 11.30am, making its way to Dail Eireann. The purpose of this demonstration is to both highlight the violation of Travellers’ human rights and to unite Travellers from all over the country as a community challenging our oppression. The gathering will be addressed by members of Minceirs Whiden Council.
The Visiting Teacher for Travellers Service in conjunction with Trinity & UCD Access programme, Ballyfermot Travellers Action Project, BASE & Ballyfermot Partnership have organised an event during Traveller Focus Week to launch the ‘When I grow up’ DVD. The DVD explores with young Travellers their hopes and aspirations of what they would like to be when they grow up. The morning of the launch will also include inputs from Traveller role models & access officers, workshops exploring how to fulfil your dream/aspirations for when you grow up and a quiz which will expose the group to Traveller role models. The event will bring together Traveller students, parents, teachers, access officers, visiting teacher & community & voluntary groups from the area
